Our Team

  • Kainaat - Founder

Salam! I’m Kainaat, studying politics based in Sydney or Darug country. I grew up in many countries and schools saw the importance of how many different races, religions and ethnicities were treated. This empowered me to seek a sense of belonging and justice for other people who are marginalized within our society and raise awareness towards the senseless injustice. I am Pakistani with Punjabi roots from pre-partition India, with grandparents who underwent intergenerational trauma. I started this to amplify awareness of c-PTSD for refugee children who usually suffer violence, persecution and lack of safety from their environment. Through the program, I aim to bring interest in cultural resistance, mental health support and have access to partnerships that can allow us to advocate for human rights.

  • Serina - Treasurer

Hello! My name is Serina, and I am a final-year medical student currently based on the Gold Coast. Having grown up in Sydney’s west for most of my life, I moved to Queensland after graduating high school to pursue a career in medicine. Spending the last six years in the Sunshine State has given me a sense of independence and, embarrassingly, a newfound appreciation for rich culture and diversity (no shade to Queenslanders, love you all).

As a proud Palestinian, I am deeply committed to advocating for human rights and empowering those affected by conflict and displacement. Witnessing the hardships faced by my own people, including limited access to healthcare, education, and basic human rights, has fueled my passion to provide compassionate care and support in the field of Medicine and beyond. Through my work with the Watan Kids Foundation, I strive to support and uplift children and young adults from war-torn countries, displaced migrants, asylum seekers, and refugees.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I’m an avid gym goer who's trying to see if she could transition into becoming a Pilates princess - yet to no one’s surprise, I’ve failed spectacularly. I also love watching Gossip Girl (definitely not because Serena and I share the same name) and cooking videos. Speaking of cooking, I’m no Masterchef, but living away from mum’s food for years has made me into somewhat of a culinary genius.

As a soon to be doctor, I have a keen interest in various fields, including paediatrics, psychiatry, and dermatology, among others. The mission of WKF aligns perfectly with my professional and personal goals, making it an ideal platform for me to contribute both within and beyond the medical field.
